Why CBD Should be in Every Baby Boomer Diet

The Benefits of CDB for Baby Boomers

"Many people use CBD to curb symptoms of many common health issues, including some elderly people. According to a 2020 nationally representative Consumer Reports survey, 20% of Americans 65 years and older said they'd tried CBD, up from 14% from the prior year in 2019." -WEBMD

CBD Helps to Restore Balance in the Body

We each have a system in our body that helps to maintain balance. This system is called an endocannabinoid system.  This system provides stability of body functions.

Inflammation is one benefit of CBD based on research. An example is an inflamed joint due to arthritis or injury.

"There is growing evidence of CBD’s suggested benefits on inflammation-related conditions. A 2020 study reported CBD’s analgesic (pain-reducing) properties in patients with pain and mental health symptoms"

CBD helps support your endocannabinoid system so your body can better handle and relieve the problem. If there is more than one thing out of balance, then CBD can help support the system to restore balance to more than just one. There are a number of other benefits based on research in progress in addition to the list below.

Benefits of CBD as listed on WebMD

There are numerous benefits of CBD :

  •  Relieves arthritis pain
  • Relieves chronic pain
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Reduces muscle spasms
  • Improves sleep
  • Prevents or reduces symptoms related to Alzheimer's disease
  • May reduce cancer cell growth
  • Reduces nausea and vomiting for cancer patients being treated with chemotherapy

While many people are still learning about CBD there are still a lot of misconceptions.

The main misconception is that CBD is only combined with marijuana (THC). Although there is some CBD in  marijuana, pure CBD is hemp-based and does not have THC. It has benefits that extend over different conditions. This is why CBD is becoming so popular.

Why CBD Honey Sticks?

Our CBD honeystix have become one of the more popular CBD edibles. Happy Hemp Honey Store is a national distributor of the original CBD honey sticks and one of the business partners has a history of winning the grand champion award for honey in Oregon. We developed the first CBD honey sticks, and we are a CBD-only online store and not a dispensary.

High Potency CBD

Many CBD edibles are low potency and high cost. As a result the bio-availability of the CBD is less. With a high potency CBD edible you have more bio-availability that is cost effective. Each honey stick in a Lab certified five pack has 100mg of CBD.

10 Unusual Ideas for Aging and Wellness with Inspiration

10 Unusual Ideas with Inspiration - for Aging and Wellness

by David Lawrence Brown

We all need inspiration for aging and wellness.

Both aging and wellness are areas in which we have so many choices, some more commonly known than others. Here are ten unusual or different ideas that might help our aging and wellness. Anyone who has reached age 50, 60  or 70 has aging more prevalent in their perspective on life. This is especially relevant for baby boomers in 2002 between the ages of 58 and 76.

“This word ‘anti-aging’ has to be struck. I am pro-aging. I want to age with intelligence and grace and dignity and verve and energy.”- Jamie Lee Curtis

The quote of Jamie Curtis is a great one. However many may not hold this same view. The ten ideas presented here are in this same spirit of Jamie's inspiration of aging "with intelligence and grace and dignity and verve".

10 Unusual Ideas  with Inspiration for Aging and Wellness
5 for Physical health and 4 for Mental-Spiritual-Inspirational

Mental-Spiritual-Emotional

1)
Our mental attitude
toward the world and our own life is important. Inspiration can keep us strong. Many already know this, yet get caught up in the "hurricane winds" and forget or do not actively move into the "eye" - center of the hurricane. If we do it might be unusual, and an important idea to reflect on and take action, with whatever works for you on your journey of life. Whatever the challenges, can we love and embrace our life with
intelligence and grace and dignity and verve" ?  If you are ready for a positive shift in your life then use these ideas to help create one.

2) Atomic Habits - Changing Our Routine -
We might like the idea of changing our routine to include something new, yet to be committed to it might have challenges. If we had a system or track to run on and actively use to create changes in our life (like many apps) that is unusual in its distinction from other systems and provides the inspiration to stay with it, then it might be worth looking into. Atomic Habits is a best selling book and a system that now has a track record of  working for many people. It may be usual for some, and it may also be unusual for many more. 1) Turn Off, Tune In, and Drop Out -

This might be unusual for many however try this for more peace of mind. Turn off the news unless you can watch without having your buttons pushed and get triggered into the expected response.Tune in to your own freedom of thought, choices, and intuition. The Divine Spirit or Higher Power if you are not an atheist. Drop out of the "torrential and turbulent winds of the hurricane", whenever possible, and enjoy a new perspective on life. In an article in PsychologyToday, learn about the effects of TV and news.

2) Include peaceful meditation in your daily routine.
This may not be unusual for many, yet it probably is for many more. Meditation can provide inspiration and peace of mind in this fast-paced world. Research has described other benefits.  At first, you might be bombarded with thoughts and it is not peaceful so you might want to stop there. Stay focused on a mantra or idea such as love, gratitude, or your belief in a God or Divine Spirit. At some point, those thoughts might diminish, and you go deeper into a peaceful state. Stay there and enjoy. No rush to come out. Even twenty minutes a day can do wonders. I have practiced meditation for many years, first thing in the morning. Sometimes I will add one in the afternoon. With our busy lives, that may seem like a lot. Even fifteen minutes in the afternoon can be helpful.  Learn more > The Amazing Benefits of Meditation".

4) Gratitude
Gratitude is one of the most important things that we can have in our life. It can be expressed or felt at various times, or it can be an ongoing conscious experience of being in a state of gratitude all the time. It is a form of mindfulness of being grateful for what we have, rather than focusing on what we do not have. Journaling, or reading books or listening to audiobooks on gratitude may be an unusual but welcomed by many. Inspiration and Gratitude - on Amazon

5) Prayer, Keywords and Affirmations

Whether religious or spiritual using prayer, affirmations, and keywords more frequently in our daily life can bring benefits. Studies have shown that professional athletes who use posiitve affirmations before games have had results.

Here's to Your Physical Health

While we rely on doctors to help us, there has been a trend now for many years to seek out things that can also help our health. Fitness, and diet, are well established. Certain foods or herbs are heard of and researched online.

1) In Praise of Walking (with an Audiobook)
We have the common knowledge that walking is a good routine and that we can also enjoy music with our earpods at the same time. However, here's an unusual twist on this idea....use atomic habits to be inspired to integrate a walking routine, and listen to an audiobook instead of music. It could be a best seller, a classic, or a book on walking such as "In Praise of Walking". "A hymn to walking, the mechanical magic at the core of our humanity. In this captivating audiobook, neuroscienist Shane O'Mara invite sus to marvel at the benefits walking can confer upon oour bodies and brains, and to appreciate the advantages of this uniquely human skill" (Aubile) Get inspired by listening to this audiobook while you are walking!

2) Get into Nature Physically and with Amazing Drone Videos

If you are not able to get into beautiful nature on a frequent basis, consider the beautiful nature videos with drones where you are soaring over waterfalls, canyons, mountains, oceans, and anywhere in the world. Of course being there is preferable, yet it may not happen that often except on vacations. As an example, enjoy Nature's Healing Society on YouTube. While they have soothing music at a frequency such as 432mz to have an effect, it can also be watched with the sound turned off while you choose your own favorite soothing music or audiobook.

3) Yoga and Qi Gong

Yoga has become very popular and yet it still might be considered unusual by many, especially baby boomers who think that it might be only for a younger crowd. Not the case. I know one fan who at age sixty gave himself a one hundred day challenge to take one hot yoga class every day, and he completed 114. Qi Gong is not as well known as yoga so it might also be considered "unusual". Practiced by millions of Chinese for centuries it started becoming more popular in the West in recent years. You don't need to seek out a studio. Check out Judy Young Qi Gong on YouTube >.

3) 5 Cups of Green Tea a Day?

Green tea is not unusual. It is commonly known and can be bought at Costco as well as online and in many stores. What is unusual is drinking 5 cups a day for aging and wellness. Who would have known some years ago? Yet now it is more commonly known that green tea has health benefits. Will our doctor recommend it? Probably not. So we do our own research and learn that green tea has different benefits. Here's two :

>Polyphenols - natural compounds that can help reduce inflammation and fight cancer.

> Heart benefits? Google "green tea research". You will find that Harvard Health Studies published a paper "Green Tea May Reduce Heart Disease Risk"- "A number of studies have looked at possible links between green tea and cardiovascular disease. A study of 40,530 Japanese adults found that participants who drank more than five cups of green tea a day had a 26% lower risk of death from a heart attack or stroke and a 16% lower risk of death from all causes than people who drank less than one cup of green tea a day." - Harvard Health Studies

4) Heard of Hemp-Based CBD? (No THC)
As another idea for inspiration of aging and wellness, there is extensive ongoing research on CBD. Hemp-based CBD that has no THC has been the subject of increasing research studies since it was legalized in the U.S. in 2018.

The potential benefits of CBD seem quite extensive and in many different areas including sleep, anxiety, reduced inflammation, reduced pain, and much more.

Why Me, the Bees and CBD? A Personal Story

My CBD story is private as I am an introvert and prefer to be anonymous. I agreed to let this be published if my name is not used and a stock photo is shown instead of my own so that I can speak freely and without inhibition. I am a fifty-something female who like many lost some family and friends to the pandemic and for other reasons besides the virus. It was life-changing for so many of us, all of us to whatever extent, and as a result, so many like myself are searching for healthier ideas for our life and especially our immune system.

I have health issues that were here before the pandemic and are still an issue. I heard of CBD when it gained national attention in 2019 and how it had many health benefits and is available without the THC ingredient that makes you high. I prefer a natural high but to each their own.

I could not rely on the hype of some companies that "this is the best CBD" on the market, etc. etc. so I did my homework and my research helped in making an informed decision as to which company and product seemed to be a good fit before buying it.

As a UCLA graduate/alumni I was impressed when I learned that they were the first to develop a research project called the Cannabis Research Initiative. Their mission brings together experts from diverse fields to advance the understanding of the plant’s impact on body, brain, and society.

There has been a of of controversy about cannabis especially since it is a grass roots ( no pun intended) movement to provide health benefits in a culture dominated by Big Pharma and big government wanted to control what we choose to use to improve our health.

This has caused so many funding barriers from government restrictions that we could have been so much further in the development of research over so many years, but it is what it is, and we still have those brave pioneers who will keep moving forward such as the Cannabis Research Initiative.

However, science and research will prove what I and so many others have experienced in health benefits. I will not list the personal testimonials here as you can easily find the benefits on Google. Wherever this is published, I do not want the publisher to get heat for medical claims etc. Research is another thing - until further conclusive studies are completed, the pre-clinical studies are published and show the potential novel clinical utility of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating component of the cannabis plant, as a safe and effective pharmacotherapy for RA".

Here are just one of UCLA's ongoing research studies that give a glimpse into the therapeutic benefits of CBD.

"Therapeutic Response of Cannabidiol in Rheumatoid Arthritis"

Funded by: Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (648557)

Role: Principal Investigator (MPI: Dr. Cooper [PI] and Dr. Ranganath [PD/PI])

"Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a rare autoimmune destructive arthritic disease, affecting 0.5-1% of the total population. RA patients suffer from joint pain, joint deformity, stiffness, swelling, fatigue, impaired function, and decreased quality of life. Presently, there is no cure for RA and clinical remission is only achieved by 1-33% patients. There is a critical need for non-toxic, well tolerated, and efficacious adjunctive medications that can aide in the treatment of the RA patient to reduce pain and inflammation-induced joint damage. Preclinical studies support the potential novel clinical utility of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating component of the cannabis plant, as a safe and effective pharmacotherapy for RA. The overall goal of this proof-of-principle proposal is to examine the efficacy and safety of CBD treatment as adjunctive to the medical management of RA patients with moderate to severe disease activity. The results of this study will inform a future larger clinical trial to apprise the public and physicians on whether CBD truly reduces RA synovial inflammation."
